Creation of social value

We build a sustainable future for all

The analysis we make of the territories allows us to propose actions that are reflected in the well-being of the communities and in making the best decisions, seeking a balance between the viability of the business and the strengthening of social dynamics.

Why is this important?

At TGI we assume sustainability as the ability to know and manage the environment to implement actions by adapting our businesses to the dynamics of the territory, in order to generate profitability and, in addition, share the benefits of social value with those populations where we operate, with a long-term vision and transition to a sustainable future.

(103-1) We achieve this creation of social value by sharing the language, by respecting cultural and environmental diversity, and by involving the communities to achieve the objective of the projects to transport natural gas through the Colombian territory. This is how these populations recognize our company as a legitimate actor that contributes to the sustainable development of their territories.

How do we manage it?

(103-2) We are aware of the changes that society has undergone and today, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, information technologies and virtual communications are gaining momentum. Thanks to them, in 2020 we managed to approach the territories in a different way.

This allowed the development of our projects and the operation of our infrastructure, thanks to a legitimate relationship with the communities, which also helped us develop actions to help families affected by the pandemic. Hence, we were able to materialize social awareness actions, which are reflected in the programs of the Social Management Plan, which we use to do the following:

The creation of social value has allowed us to strengthen ties of trust and security for the construction of networks that favor the transformation of territories.
  • We deploy capacities for institutional strengthening in the areas of influence.

  • We promote and consolidate the creation of networks of social leaders.

  • We empower women in the territories.

  • We facilitate access to quality rural education for children and adolescents.

  • We contribute to food security with the connection of gas in significant territories for the country.

  • We maintain close relationships with ethnic groups under the premise of respect and recognition of their uses and customs, in connection with our commitments to the promotion of human rights and the Global Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Assuming the commitment to create social value in the territorial setting is, without a doubt, a great challenge that is articulated with TGI's corporate values, since we act with respect, equity, transparency and integrity, promoting a participatory and inclusive dialogue with our stakeholders. This allows us to implement initiatives and projects that go hand in hand with the interests and needs of local communities in alliance with territorial entities. Furthermore, it gives us the ability to strengthen ties of trust and security, allowing the construction of networks for the transformation of territories.

What we achieved in 2020

(103-3)

(Own) Our total social investment amounted cop 4,175 million. For each weight we invest in tgi, the there is social return of cop 1.97 according to sroi.

  • We managed the purchase and delivery of 10,000 emergency humanitarian aid kits, worth COP 1,306 million, to support food security for the same number of families in 41 municipalities in TGI's area of influence. This allowed us to strengthen engagement in the territory in those times when the most vulnerable people required our support.

  • In order to empower the communities and strengthen their knowledge and skills in key issues for their community management, we developed a virtual strengthening program that benefited 132 community leaders, attached to 68 community action boards. With this we motivate the leaders in the territory to use new technologies, which they can use to advance in their community processes and connect initiatives through digital tools to bring progress to their territories. We made an investment of COP 249 million, aimed at benefiting 72 new leaders in 2021.

Challenges for 2021

(103-3)

We will consolidate alliances with the idb and fao to strengthen our contributions to the communities in areas of influence of tgi.

  • Work on the implementation of the Social Management Plan, which we updated in 2020, and where we established the following mission: to be a company that promotes long-term prosperity in the territories through social inclusion, the generation of positive impact projects, proactive relationships and sustainable processes with stakeholders in the development of the nature of the work and growth projects of our company, thus reducing the risks of conflicts with communities, institutions or with the actors of the social dynamics inherent to areas of influence.

  • Contribute to territorial economic growth and the well-being of the inhabitants with shared value projects, through the possible establishment of alliances with important organizations, such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) - an alliance focused on supporting productive enterprises with an ethnic focus in La Guajira. Explore alternative environmental projects in the Colombian dry Caribbean, with emphasis on the departments of Magdalena, Cesar and La Guajira, in partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

  • Expand the coverage of the Community Leaders Strengthening Program in other priority areas due to their importance in TGI's relationship.
