We train integral and efficient collaborators

From the new Knowledge and Experience Center we execute a plan to train integral and efficient employers in their work in the gas pipelines and compression stations.

From the CCE, in addition to training, ideas of innovation are developed, around topics such as renewable energy and clean energy, and change of lubricant technology for compression stations.

“The Operating Model is the new operation and reorganization mode; through the definition of geographic areas and the balanced distribution of resources for the operation and maintenance of the infrastructure and for the management of interest groups, we can now provide more timely attention, for the benefit of the community and for the environment”, said Carlos Sánchez, leader of TGI's Knowledge and Experience Center.

The Knowledge and Experience Center (CCE) is part of TGI's new Operating Model, created in 2019 from the consultancy provided by the firm Mercer, which seeks to unite the two Maintenance areas attached to the Operations Vice-presidency: Gas pipelines and Compression Stations, from three zonal divisions (North, Center-East, and South-West).

The CCE seeks the best external and internal practices for the operational part, to lead training programs to strengthen a team of integral collaborators and to standardize operational processes. Its four pillars are innovation and efficiency, technical support, information management and knowledge management.

40
employees, including professionals, directors, superintendents and supervisors of the Vice Presidency of Operations, were trained in the second semester of 2020 during 64 hours of training.

“External advisors, as well as company collaborators, have led the training process on topics defined from the competencies matrix of each area: natural gas transportation, gas pipeline design and its operation, maintenance and integrity of the infrastructure and knowledge transfer of contracts”, explained Dairo Meriño, CCE professional.

With this Training Plan, TGI ensures confidence in the service and protects the integrity of its gas pipelines and 15 compression stations throughout the country. In addition, it minimizes repair costs because many activities will no longer be outsourced but will be executed by the company's own technicians. "We also improve performance, as we are more efficient in operations, we stimulate innovation and strengthen leadership," adds Meriño.

For Carlos Sánchez, leader of the CCE (manager), the center's challenge in 2021 is to train 67 technicians as integral collaborators: “Many of them have been working with only one asset for years, either with gas pipelines or compression stations, and our challenge for this year is to execute an ambitious Comprehensive Training Plan for the zonal technical team that allows us to carry out maintenance tasks in a single work schedule in the medium term.” he says.

Another of the great goals of TGI's CCE is for those technicians close to retirement to transfer their knowledge and know-how to other collaborators, for which we are standardizing and documenting all the information in this plan in procedures and formats. "With a manual at hand, with clear information, a technician or collaborator can increase his knowledge, can solve problems in the field and facilitate his work by being clear on every step of the way, and even evaluate himself if he was doing it right or wrong, to correct it,” affirmed Henry Aparicio, a CCE professional, about the importance of the Training Plan for employees.

“From the CCE of Transportadora de Gas Internacional, we support the different initiatives of operational efficiency that increase the competitiveness of the organization; we aim to do more with the same resources or do the same with fewer resources, but always thinking about the sustainability of the company and the lowest impact on the environment. That is why we are all aligned in achieving the proposed goals in order to guarantee sustainability”, concludes Leonardi Jaimes, a professional at CCE.
